Description:
Yellowish powder or granule.
Brominated epoxy oligomers are prepared in several ways. One method involves the reaction of Tetrabromobisphenol-A and epichlorohydrin. This can give materials having molecular weights from as low as 1600 to as high as 60,000 with bromine contents ranging from 52 to 54%.
In some cases, the terminal epoxy groups are capped by reacting with phenol or tribromophenol to improve thermal stability.
End capping with phenol lowers the bromine content slightly whereas end capping with tribromophenol raises it slightly.
